The 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham ended with Australia topping the medal standings with 178 medals.
But that is not all.

At the Birmingham Games, Australia led the medal count with 178 medals, including 67 gold, 57 silver, and 54 bronze.
Close behind Australia's medal total were Great Britain with 176 and Canada with 92.
2. Australia won the most Commonwealth gold medals ever.
Since the first Commonwealth Games in Canada in 1930, Australia has won a record 1,001 gold medals.
Australia arrived in Birmingham with 934 gold medals, but needed to win 66 medals to reach 1,000 gold medals.
In the netball final on day 10, the Diamonds defeated Jamaica 55-51 to win Australia's 1,000th gold medal.
The Kookaburras also won their seventh consecutive Commonwealth men's hockey title, extending Australia's gold medal haul to 1,001.
The host nation, Great Britain, now has the second highest number of Commonwealth gold medals with 773, followed by Canada, India, and New Zealand.
3. the Birmingham Games were not Australia's most successful
While Birmingham was a great success for the Australian athletes, the Aussies have won more medals in the last six Games.
The most gold medals were won in Canada in 1994 with 87, and the most overall medals were won in Melbourne in 2006 with 221.
4. swimming tops medal count, Emma McKeon sets all-time record
Naturally, Australia has won gold medals in swimming, athletics, and cycling.
But what may come as a surprise to some is that the majority of Australia's Commonwealth gold medals have been won in the shooting and weightlifting categories.
The Australian swimming team won almost half (65) of its 156 medals, including 25 of its 52 gold medals.
