Like many other sporting events, the Grand Final is an integral part of Australian culture.

As such, the Friday before the Grand Final has been declared a public holiday in Victoria.

AFL Grand Final 2022 Tickets, Dates, Times, Parade, and Entertainment

Every year, futsal fans from all over the country flock to Melbourne for this sporting event to watch the Grand Final live at the MCG. For those unable to make it to the game, the matches will be broadcast live on television.

The AFL Grand Final is not only a sporting event, but halftime entertainment is also a major highlight of the day. Many national and international music stars perform here, making the AFL Grand Final one of the most watched television events of the year.

Each year, a variety of events are held in and around Melbourne prior to the AFL Grand Final.

  • Brownlow Medal, Monday, September 19, 2022. Held at the Crown Entertainment Centre, with a red carpet presentation at 5pm and live medal count starting at 7pm
  • Toyota AFL Live Venue; September 2022 TBD. Free entertainment at Yarra Park with lots of entertainment, competitions, exhibits and giveaways.
  • AFL Grand Final Parade Friday, September 23, 2022 at noon. The Friday before the Grand Finals will be a holiday. Come watch the two teams competing in this year's Grand Final. The parade will begin outside the Old Treasury Building on Spring Street, then head south on Spring Street, turn left onto Wellington Parade, turn right onto Wellington Parade south, and enter Gate 3 at Yarra Park. We will then proceed through Yarra Park to the Toyota AFL Grand Final Live venue.
  • Grand Final Breakfast Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 8:00 am. Held in the Plenary Hall of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and moderated by a panel of experts.

Tickets for the games will sell out quickly, so if you are interested in attending the AFL Grand Final, please do so as soon as possible. If you can't get tickets to the game, head to the AFL Live site at Yarra Park to watch the game live!

Public transportation will be free to the MCG and Yarra Park as the Free Tram Zone will be extended to the streetcar stop near Yarra Park. This means that streetcar passengers from within the CBD free streetcar zone will no longer need to touch myki to get to MCG and Yarra Park.
